Both the GranTurismo Folgore and the Corvette have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore weighs 1126 to 1548 pounds more than the Chevrolet Corvette. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The GranTurismo Folgore comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Corvette’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The GranTurismo Folgore, as a pure battery electric vehicle, has no need to “idle” its motors in traffic: they only burn power when moving. The GranTurismo Folgore’s climate control systems still work completely when the vehicle is stopped. The Corvette still runs its internal combustion engine whenever it’s stopped, burning excess fuel.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore higher (10 out of 10) than the Chevrolet Corvette (2 to 4). This means the GranTurismo Folgore produces up to 40.6 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Corvette every 15,000 miles.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the GranTurismo Folgore’s trunk can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The GranTurismo Folgore also offers an optional power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button or just by kicking your foot under the back bumper. The Corvette doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening liftgate.

If the windows are left open on the GranTurismo Folgore the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Corvette can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Corvette’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the GranTurismo Folgore offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Corvette doesn’t offer cornering lights. The GranTurismo Folgore also offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors costs extra on the Corvette.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the GranTurismo Folgore offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Corvette doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the driver’s visor. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Chevrolet charges extra for Homelink® on the Corvette.
