The GranTurismo’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Continental GT doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the GranTurismo and the Continental GT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The GranTurismo comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Continental GT’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

The GranTurismo’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Continental GT’s (4 vs. 3 years).

There are almost 2 times as many Maserati dealers as there are Bentley dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GranTurismo’s warranty.

The GranTurismo’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Continental GT’s 35 series front tires.

The GranTurismo Trofeo handles at .97 G’s, while the Continental GT SPEED pulls only .89 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The design of the Maserati GranTurismo amounts to more than styling. The GranTurismo has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .28 Cd. That is lower than the Continental GT (.29 to .32). A more efficient exterior helps the GranTurismo go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the GranTurismo get better fuel mileage.

The front grille of the GranTurismo uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Continental GT doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The GranTurismo has 2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Continental GT (89 vs. 87).

The GranTurismo has a much larger trunk than the Continental GT (10.9 vs. 9.2 cubic feet).

The GranTurismo’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Continental GT does not have an oil pressure gauge.

If the windows are left open on the GranTurismo the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Continental GT can’t use the remote to operate the windows.

The GranTurismo’s cruise control switch is lit from behind, making it plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Continental GT’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the GranTurismo to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Continental GT doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GranTurismo has standard extendable sun visors. The Continental GT only offers a small additional center visor.

Both the GranTurismo and the Continental GT offer rear vents. For greater rear passenger comfort, the GranTurismo has standard rear air conditioning vents to keep rear occupants cool in summer or warm in winter. The Continental GT doesn’t offer rear air conditioning vents, only heat vents.

Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Bentley charges extra for Homelink® on the Continental GT.
