2025 Mercedes AMG S-Class
2025 Rolls-Royce Ghost

Safety

Both the Ghost and AMG S-Class have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Ghost has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The AMG S-Class’ child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Rolls-Royce Ghost has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The AMG S-Class doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Both the Ghost and the AMG S-Class have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The Ghost comes with a full 4-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The AMG S-Class’ 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Rolls-Royce pays for scheduled maintenance on the Ghost for 4 years and unlimited miles. Rolls-Royce will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the AMG S-Class.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Ghost has 3.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the AMG S-Class (23.8 vs. 20.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Ghost’s wheelbase is 3.1 inches longer than on the AMG S-Class (129.7 inches vs. 126.6 inches). The Ghost Extended’s wheelbase is 9.4 inches longer than on the AMG S-Class (136 inches vs. 126.6 inches).

Chassis

The Rolls-Royce Ghost may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 150 to 300 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG S-Class.

The Ghost uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The AMG S-Class doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The Ghost Extended has 8 cubic feet more passenger volume than the AMG S-Class (120 vs. 112).

Ergonomics

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Ghost has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The AMG S-Class doesn’t offer headlight washers.
