Compare the2025 Cadillac LyriqVS 2025 Porsche Cayenne

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Cadillac Lyriq have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Porsche Cayenne doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Lyriq are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Cayenne doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Cadillac Lyriq achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Porsche Cayenne has not been tested.

The Cadillac Lyriq comes with a standard HD Surround Vision and it also offers an optional rear camera washer to make backing always safe, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the Porsche Cayenne doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Both the Lyriq and the Cayenne have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and available driver alert monitors.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the Lyriq 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Cayenne. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Cayenne ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 3 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Lyriq’s warranty.

The Lyriq can travel with zero emissions for 303 to 326 miles (dependent on model). The Cayenne can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

For better traction, the Lyriq has larger standard tires than the Cayenne (265/50R20 vs. 255/55R20).

The Lyriq’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Cayenne’s standard 55 series front tires.

The Cadillac Lyriq’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Porsche Cayenne only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Lyriq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Cayenne doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Lyriq’s wheelbase is 7.8 inches longer than on the Cayenne (121.8 inches vs. 114 inches).

The Lyriq’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Cayenne’s (52% to 48%). This gives the Lyriq more stable handling and braking.

The Lyriq offers available computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Cayenne doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Lyriq has 3.2 inches more front legroom and 2.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Cayenne.

The Lyriq has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Cayenne with its rear seat up (28 vs. 27.3 cubic feet). The Lyriq has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Cayenne with its rear seat folded (60.8 vs. 60.3 cubic feet).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Lyriq easier. The Lyriq’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 28.5 inches, while the Cayenne’s liftover is 31 inches.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the Lyriq’s optional rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Cayenne doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The Lyriq has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Cayenne doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

On a hot day the Lyriq’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Cayenne can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Lyriq’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Cayenne’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Lyriq has standard extendable sun visors. The Cayenne doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Lyriq offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Cayenne doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Lyriq is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Cayenne doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

The Cadillac Lyriq outsold the Porsche Cayenne by 20% during 2024.
