For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Mitsubishi Outlander are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Outlander are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Mitsubishi Outlander has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The F-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Outlander has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The F-Pace doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Mitsubishi Outlander achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Jaguar F-Pace has not been tested.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Outlander has a standard Rear Automatic Emergency Brake that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The F-Pace doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the Outlander and the F-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive, lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

Mitsubishi’s powertrain warranty covers the Outlander 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the F-Pace. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the F-Pace ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Outlander’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the F-Pace’s (7 vs. 6 years).

There are over 2 times as many Mitsubishi dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Outlander’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Outlander’s reliability 40 points higher than the F-Pace.

On the EPA test cycle the Outlander gets better mileage than the F-Pace:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Mitsubishi Outlander uses regular unleaded gasoline. The F-Pace requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

The Outlander has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Outlander has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the F-Pace. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

The Outlander has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a CVT.

The Outlander stops shorter than the F-Pace:

The Outlander has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The F-Pace doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Outlander SEL AWC handles at .87 G’s, while the F-Pace pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Outlander’s turning circle is 3.1 feet tighter than the F-Pace’s (36.1 feet vs. 39.2 feet). The Outlander’s turning circle is 3.3 feet tighter than the F-Pace SVR’s (36.1 feet vs. 39.4 feet).

The Mitsubishi Outlander may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 650 pounds less than the Jaguar F-Pace.

The Outlander is 6.8 inches narrower than the F-Pace, making the Outlander easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The design of the Mitsubishi Outlander amounts to more than styling. The Outlander has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .33 Cd. That is lower than the F-Pace (.36) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Outlander get better fuel mileage.

The front grille of the Outlander uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The F-Pace doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Outlander has standard seating for 7 passengers; the F-Pace can only carry 5.

The Outlander has 29.5 cubic feet more passenger volume than the F-Pace (125.5 vs. 96).

The Outlander has .9 inches more front headroom, 1.4 inches more front legroom, .2 inches more front shoulder room, .6 inches more rear headroom, 2.7 inches more rear legroom and .1 inches more rear shoulder room than the F-Pace.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Outlander’s middle and third row seats recline. The F-Pace’s rear seats don’t recline.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Outlander’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Mitsubishi service is better than Jaguar. J.D. Power ranks Mitsubishi 8th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 6% lower rating, Jaguar is ranked 10th.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Outlander has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Outlander to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The F-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Outlander is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
