Safety
Warranty
The DB12 comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The M8’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.
Engine
The DB12’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 53 more horsepower (670 vs. 617) than the M8’s 4.4 turbo V8.
Environmental Friendliness
In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Aston Martin DB12 higher (5 out of 10) than the BMW M8 (2). This means the DB12 produces up to 20.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the M8 every 15,000 miles.
Brakes and Stopping
For better stopping power the DB12’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the M8:

Tires and Wheels
For better traction and acceleration, the DB12 has larger rear tires than the M8 (305/30R21 vs. 285/35R20).
The DB12’s 305/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the M8’s standard 35 series tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the DB12 has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the M8.
Suspension and Handling
For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the DB12 is 1.7 inches wider in the front than the average track on the M8.
For better maneuverability, the DB12’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the M8 Competition Coupe’s (38.4 feet vs. 40 feet). The DB12’s turning circle is 3.9 feet tighter than the M8 Gran Coupe’s (38.4 feet vs. 42.3 feet).
Chassis
The Aston Martin DB12 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 pounds less than the BMW M8.
The DB12 is shorter than the M8, making the DB12 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces:

Ergonomics
Unlike the driver-only memory system in the M8, the DB12 has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.
In case of a sudden change of weather, the DB12 has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. On a hot day the DB12 has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The M8 doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.
