For better traction and acceleration, the Macan Electric has larger standard rear tires than the iX (285/45R20 vs. 235/60R20). The Macan Electric’s optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the iX (295/40R21 vs. 275/40R22).

The Macan Electric’s standard 235/55R20 front and 285/45R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series front and 45 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the iX xDrive50’s standard 60 series tires. The Macan Electric’s optional 295/35R22 rear tires have a lower 35 series profile than the iX’s optional 40 series tires.

The front and rear suspension of the Macan Electric uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the iX, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

For greater off-road capability the Macan Turbo Electric has a greater minimum ground clearance than the iX (8.8 vs. 8.7 inches), allowing the Macan Electric to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Macan Electric’s minimum ground clearance is .2 inch higher than on the iX (8.9 vs. 8.7 inches).

The Porsche Macan Electric may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 450 to 650 pounds less than the BMW iX.

The Macan Electric is 6.7 inches shorter than the iX, making the Macan Electric easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Porsche Macan Electric amounts to more than styling. The Macan Electric has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .25 Cd. That is lower than the iX (.25 to .26) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Macan Electric get better fuel mileage.

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Macan Electric. The iX doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

Standard Trailer Stability Management on the Macan Electric uses the Porsche Stability Management sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The iX doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Macan Electric to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The iX doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Macan Electric to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The iX doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Macan Electric offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The iX doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Macan Electric is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The iX doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
