For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The BMW X6 M doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Cayenne Coupe and X6 M have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Cayenne Coupe has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The X6 M’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Cayenne Coupe helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The X6 M doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Cayenne Coupe and X6 M have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Cayenne Coupe has Rear Cross Traffic Alert (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The X6 M’s Cross Traffic Warning doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Cayenne Coupe and the X6 M have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Cayenne Coupe second among upper midsize premium suvs in their 2024 Initial Quality Study. The X6 M isn’t in the top three.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are better in initial quality than BMW vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in initial quality. With 34 more problems per 100 vehicles, BMW is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are more reliable than BMW vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in long-term dependability. With 15 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, BMW is rated lower.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Porsche vehicles are more reliable than BMW vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Porsche 1 place higher in reliability than BMW.

The Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 112 more horsepower (729 vs. 617) and 147 lbs.-ft. more torque (700 vs. 553) than the X6 M’s 4.4 turbo V8 hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the Cayenne Coupe running its gasoline engine gets better mileage than the X6 M:

The Cayenne Coupe’s standard fuel tank has 1.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the X6 M (23.7 vs. 21.9 gallons).

For better stopping power the Cayenne Coupe CCB’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the X6 M:

The Cayenne Coupe offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The X6 M doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Cayenne Coupe Turbo has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The X6 M doesn’t offer air brakes.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Cayenne Coupe offers optional 22-inch wheels. The X6 M’s largest wheels are only 21-inches in the front and 22-inches in the rear.

For better maneuverability, the Cayenne Turbo GT’s turning circle is 4 feet tighter than the X6 M’s (38 feet vs. 42 feet). The Cayenne Coupe’s turning circle is 2.3 feet tighter than the X6 M’s (39.7 feet vs. 42 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe has a 1.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the X6 M (9.5 vs. 8.4 inches), allowing the Cayenne Coupe to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 700 pounds less than the BMW X6 M.

The front grille of the Cayenne Coupe uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The X6 M doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Cayenne Coupe has .7 inches more front legroom, .8 inches more rear headroom and 4.3 inches more rear legroom than the X6 M.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Cayenne Coupe’s rear seats recline. The X6 M’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Cayenne Coupe’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The X6 M’s tailgate’s top part raises up, but the bottom part lowers, getting in the way of loading and making an uneven surface for sliding cargo.

The Cayenne Coupe has a 7716 lbs. towing capacity. The X6 M has no towing capacity.

Standard trailer sway control on the Cayenne Coupe uses the Porsche Stability Management sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The X6 M doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The Cayenne Coupe has a much higher maximum payload capacity than the X6 M (1501 vs. 1025 lbs.).

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Porsche service is better than BMW. J.D. Power ranks Porsche second in service department satisfaction. With a 32% lower rating, BMW is ranked 13th.

The Cayenne Coupe’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The X6 M does not have an oil pressure gauge.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Cayenne Coupe to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The X6 M doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Cayenne Coupe offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The X6 M doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the Cayenne Coupe has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The X6 M doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.
