2025 Rolls-Royce Spectre
2025 Porsche Taycan

Safety

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Spectre. But it costs extra on the Taycan.

Both the Spectre and the Taycan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Rolls-Royce Spectre weighs 1251 to 1813 pounds more than the Porsche Taycan. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

The Spectre comes with a full 4-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Taycan’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Rolls-Royce pays for scheduled maintenance on the Spectre for 2 years and unlimited miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the Taycan (4/unlimited vs. 2/24,000).

Engine

The Spectre’s electric motors produces 175 more horsepower (577 vs. 402) and 362 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 302) than the Taycan Performance Battery’s standard electric motor. The Spectre’s electric motors produces 175 more horsepower (577 vs. 402) and 233 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 431) than the Taycan 4 Performance Battery’s standard electric motors. The Spectre’s electric motors produces 148 more horsepower (577 vs. 429) and 355 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 309) than the Taycan Performance Battery Plus’ standard electric motor.

As tested in Car and Driver the Rolls-Royce Spectre is faster than the Taycan Performance Battery Plus electric motor:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Spectre has larger standard tires than the Taycan (F:255/45R22 & R:285/40R22 vs. F:225/55R19 & R:275/45R19).

The Spectre’s standard 255/45R22 front and 285/40R22 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Taycan’s standard 55 series front and 45 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Spectre has standard 22-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Taycan. The Spectre’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the Taycan.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Spectre’s wheelbase is 12.2 inches longer than on the Taycan (126.4 inches vs. 114.2 inches). The Spectre’s wheelbase is 12.1 inches longer than on the Taycan Cross Turismo (126.4 inches vs. 114.3 inches).

The Spectre handles at .90 G’s, while the Taycan pulls only .89 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

Chassis

For excellent aerodynamics, the Spectre has standard flush composite headlights. The Taycan has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

Passenger Space

The Spectre has 5 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Taycan (94 vs. 89).

Ergonomics

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Spectre to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Taycan doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.
