In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the EQE Sedan are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Taycan doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The EQE Sedan has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Taycan doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The EQE Sedan has Car-to-X Communication, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Taycan doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure or other vehicles.

Both the EQE Sedan and the Taycan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

There are almost 2 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the EQE Sedan’s warranty.

For better traction, the EQE Sedan has larger standard tires than the Taycan (255/40R20 vs. 225/55R19).

The EQE Sedan’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Taycan’s standard 55 series front and 45 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the EQE Sedan has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Taycan.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the EQE Sedan can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Taycan doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The EQE Sedan’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Taycan doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the EQE Sedan’s wheelbase is 8.6 inches longer than on the Taycan (122.8 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

The AMG EQE handles at .99 G’s, while the Taycan pulls only .93 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The AMG EQE executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.2 seconds quicker than the Taycan (23.8 seconds @ .83 average G’s vs. 25 seconds @ .76 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the EQE Sedan w/10° Rear Wheel Steering’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the Taycan w/Rear Axle Steering’s (35.1 feet vs. 36.7 feet).

The design of the Mercedes EQE Sedan amounts to more than styling. The EQE Sedan has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .22 Cd. That is lower than the Taycan (.23 to .28) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the EQE Sedan get better fuel mileage.

For excellent aerodynamics, the EQE Sedan has standard flush composite headlights. The Taycan has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the EQE Sedan a Mid-size car, while the Taycan is rated a Compact.

The EQE Sedan has 12 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Taycan (101 vs. 89).

The EQE Sedan has 1.9 inches more front headroom, 2.5 inches more front shoulder room, 1.2 inches more rear headroom, 6 inches more rear legroom and 2.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the Taycan.

Pressing a button automatically lowers the EQE Sedan’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Taycan doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

With its sedan body style, locking rear seatbacks and remote trunk release lockout, the EQE offers cargo security. The Taycan’s non-lockable folding seat and non-lockable remote release defeat cargo security.

If the windows are left open on the EQE Sedan the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Taycan can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The EQE Sedan’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Taycan’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the EQE Sedan to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Taycan doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.

Consumer Reports rated the EQE Sedan’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the Taycan’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”
