2025 Volvo XC60
2025 Maserati Grecale

Safety

The Maserati Grecale has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The XC60 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Both the Grecale and the XC60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Grecale Folgore 20" Wheels running on electricity gets better mileage than the XC60 T8 Extended Range running on electricity (80 city/70 hwy vs. 66 city/60 hwy MPGe).

The Grecale can travel with zero emissions on electricity, only, on a full charge for 206 to 245 miles. The XC60 T8 Extended Range has to start its internal combustion engine after only 35 miles.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Grecale Trofeo’s fuel efficiency. The XC60 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Both the Grecale and the XC60 have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stoplights and heavy traffic. All Grecale’s have a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily. The XC60 T8 doesn’t offer a way to disable start/stop.

Transmission

The Grecale Trofeo’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The XC60 doesn’t offer launch control.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Grecale’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the XC60:

Grecale

XC60

Front Rotors

13.8 inches

13.6 inches

Rear Rotors

13 inches

12.6 inches

Tires and Wheels

The Grecale’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the XC60’s standard 60 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Grecale Foglore has standard 19-inch wheels. 20-inch wheels are standard on the Grecale 2.0. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the XC60.

Suspension and Handling

The front and rear suspension of the Grecale uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the XC60, which uses transverse leafs springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Grecale’s wheelbase is 1.4 inches longer than on the XC60 (114.2 inches vs. 112.8 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Grecale is 1.4 inches wider in the rear than the track on the XC60.

Cargo Capacity

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the Grecale’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The XC60 doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

Towing

The Grecale’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the XC60’s (5071 vs. 3500 pounds). Maximum trailer towing in the Volvo XC60 is only 3500 pounds. The Grecale offers up to a 5516 lbs. towing capacity.

Servicing Ease

The engine in the Grecale is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the XC60. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

Ergonomics

The Grecale’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back and move the steering column, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The XC60 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Grecale’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The XC60 has neither an oil pressure gauge nor a temperature gauge.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Grecale has standard extendable sun visors. The XC60 doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Maserati Grecale has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the driver’s visor. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Volvo charges extra for Homelink® on the XC60.

The Grecale offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The XC60 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
