The Ford F-150 Raptor has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 1500 RHO doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The F-150 Raptor has standard Post Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The 1500 RHO doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the F-150 Raptor and 1500 RHO have rear cross-traffic warning, but the F-150 Raptor has Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The 1500 RHO’s Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the F-150 Raptor and the 1500 RHO have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Ford F-150 Raptor achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2024 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The 1500 RHO has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

There are over 20 percent more Ford dealers than there are Ram dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the F-150 Raptor’s warranty.

The F-150 Raptor has a standard “limp home system” to keep drivers from being stranded if most or all of the engine’s coolant is lost. The engine will run on only half of its cylinders at a time, reduce its power and light a warning lamp on the dashboard so the driver can get to a service station for repairs. The 1500 RHO doesn’t offer a lost coolant limp home mode, so a coolant leak could strand you or seriously damage the truck’s engine.

The F-150 Raptor R’s standard 5.2 supercharged V8 produces 180 more horsepower (720 vs. 540) and 119 lbs.-ft. more torque (640 vs. 521) than the 1500 RHO’s 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder.

As tested in Motor Trend the F-150 Raptor R 5.2 supercharged V8 is faster than the Ram 1500 RHO:

On the EPA test cycle the F-150 Raptor 3.5 turbo V6 gets better fuel mileage than the 1500 RHO (14 city/18 hwy vs. 14 city/16 hwy).

The F-150 Raptor has 3 gallons more fuel capacity than the 1500 RHO (36 vs. 33 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Ford F-150 Raptor, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the 1500 RHO.

The F-150 Raptor has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the F-150 Raptor flat and controlled during cornering. The 1500 RHO’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The F-150 Raptor has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The 1500 RHO doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

For better maneuverability, the F-150 Raptor’s turning circle is .4 feet tighter than the 1500 RHO’s (47.9 feet vs. 48.3 feet).

For greater off-road capability the F-150 Raptor has a greater minimum ground clearance than the 1500 RHO (12 vs. 11.8 inches), allowing the F-150 Raptor to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The F-150 Raptor’s minimum ground clearance is 1.3 inches higher than on the 1500 RHO (13.1 vs. 11.8 inches).

The Ford F-150 Raptor may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 to 550 pounds less than the Ram 1500 RHO.

The F-150 Raptor has 3 inches more front legroom, .6 inches more front shoulder room, .5 inches more rear headroom and .1 inches more rear shoulder room than the 1500 RHO.

The F-150 Raptor has stake post holes, to allow the containment of tall, light loads. The 1500 RHO doesn’t offer stake post holes.

Maximum trailer towing in the Ram 1500 RHO is limited to 8380 pounds. The F-150 Raptor offers up to a 8700 lbs. towing capacity.

The F-150 Raptor’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the 1500 RHO.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the F-150 Raptor’s available exterior PIN entry system. The 1500 RHO doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system, and its 9-1-1 Call can’t unlock the doors if the vehicle doesn’t have cell phone reception or the driver can’t contact the service.

The F-150 Raptor’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The 1500 RHO’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the F-150 Raptor has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The 1500 RHO doesn’t offer cornering lights.

The F-150 Raptor’s Park Assist can parallel park by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The 1500 RHO doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Motor Trend selected the F-150 Raptor as their 2018 Truck of the Year. The 1500 RHO has never been chosen.
