To maximize occupant safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Ferrari Roma have pretensioners to eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The Maserati GranTurismo doesn’t offer pretensioners.
Both the Roma and the GranTurismo have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and front and rear parking sensors.
The Roma comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The GranTurismo’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.
The Roma’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the GranTurismo’s (unlimited vs. 50,000 miles).
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Roma for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Maserati doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the GranTurismo.
The Roma’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 129 more horsepower (612 vs. 483) and 118 lbs.-ft. more torque (561 vs. 443) than the GranTurismo Modena’s standard 3.0 turbo V6. The Roma’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 70 more horsepower (612 vs. 542) and 74 lbs.-ft. more torque (561 vs. 487) than the GranTurismo Trofeo’s standard 3.0 turbo V6.
The Roma has 2.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the GranTurismo (21.1 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
The Roma has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
The Roma offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The Roma has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.
For better maneuverability, the Roma’s turning circle is 5.3 feet tighter than the GranTurismo’s (35.4 feet vs. 40.7 feet).
The Ferrari Roma may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 600 pounds less than the Maserati GranTurismo.
The Roma is 11.9 inches shorter than the GranTurismo Modena, making the Roma easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
The Roma’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.
The Roma’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer an easy entry system.
The Ferrari Roma comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Maserati GranTurismo isn’t available as a convertible.
