In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Charger are reminded to check the back seat. The Model 3 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Charger. But it costs extra on the Model 3.

The Charger offers an optional 360° Surround View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Model 3 only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Charger’s standard Rear Cross Path Detection uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Model 3 doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The Charger offers optional Uconnect 9-1-1, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Model 3 doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Charger and the Model 3 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and driver alert monitors.

The Dodge Charger weighs 1784 to 1947 pounds more than the Tesla Model 3. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

There are almost 13 times as many Dodge dealers as there are Tesla dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Charger’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are more reliable than Tesla With 62 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Dodge higher than Tesla.

Motor Trend magazine performs a classic 0 to 100 MPH and back to 0 MPH performance test. The Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe completed this feat in only 11.8 seconds. It took the Tesla Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive 13.9 seconds.

The Charger Daytona R/T Coupe w/20" Wheels can travel longer on a full charge than the Model 3 Performance (308 miles vs. 303 miles).

The Charger Scat Pack’s launch control uses electronics to control motor output precisely to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Model 3 doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction, the Charger has larger standard tires than the Model 3 (245/55R18 vs. 235/45R18). The Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Model 3 (F:305/35R20 & R:325/35R20 vs. F:235/35R20 & R:275/30R20).

The Charger has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Model 3 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Charger has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Charger flat and controlled during cornering. The Model 3’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Charger’s wheelbase is 7.8 inches longer than on the Model 3 (121 inches vs. 113.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Charger is 5.6 inches wider in the front and 6.3 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Model 3.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Charger to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Model 3 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The Charger’s standard side window demisters help clear frost or condensation from the side windows in the winter. The Model 3 doesn’t even offer side window demisters, so the driver may have to wipe the windows from the outside to gain side vision.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Charger has standard extendable sun visors. The Model 3 doesn’t offer extendable visors.
