Compare the2024 Acura ZDXVS 2025 Mercedes EQE SUV

Both the ZDX and EQE SUV have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The ZDX has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The EQE SUV’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Acura ZDX has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The EQE SUV doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Both the ZDX and the EQE SUV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Acura vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Acura above average in initial quality. With 13 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is rated below average.

Power ranks Acura higher than Mercedes.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Acura vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Acura fourth in overall reliability. Mercedes is ranked 29th.

For better traction, the ZDX has larger standard tires than the EQE SUV (265/50R20 vs. 255/45R20).

The Acura ZDX’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Mercedes EQE SUV only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The ZDX has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The EQE SUV doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the ZDX’s wheelbase is 2.5 inches longer than on the EQE SUV (121.8 inches vs. 119.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the ZDX is 1.1 inches wider in the front and .9 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the EQE SUV.

The ZDX Type S handles at .86 G’s, while the EQE SUV 350+ pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The ZDX Type S executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.3 seconds quicker than the EQE SUV 350+ (25.1 seconds @ .75 average G’s vs. 26.4 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the ZDX has a 1.8 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the EQE SUV (7 vs. 5.2 inches), allowing the ZDX to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The ZDX has .8 inches more front legroom, .2 inches more front shoulder room and 1 inch more rear shoulder room than the EQE SUV.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the ZDX’s rear seats recline. The EQE SUV’s rear seats don’t recline.

The ZDX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the EQE SUV with its rear seat up (29.7 vs. 14 cubic feet). The ZDX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the EQE SUV with its rear seat folded (63 vs. 55 cubic feet).

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the ZDX’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The EQE SUV doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The ZDX’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the EQE SUV’s (3500 vs. 0 pounds).

A Trailer Sway Control is standard on the ZDX, using the Vehicle Stability Assist sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. A trailer sway program costs extra on the EQE SUV.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Acura service is better than Mercedes. J.D. Power ranks Acura 9th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 12% lower rating, Mercedes is ranked 17th.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the ZDX to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The EQE SUV doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The ZDX has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the EQE SUV.

The ZDX Type S has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The EQE SUV doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
