Safety

To maximize occupant safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Ferrari 812 have pretensioners to eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer pretensioners.

Both the 812 and the GranTurismo Folgore have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, front and rear parking sensors and available rearview cameras.

Warranty

The 812 comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The GranTurismo Folgore’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The 812’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the GranTurismo Folgore’s (unlimited vs. 50,000 miles).

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the 812 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Maserati doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the GranTurismo Folgore.

Engine

The 812’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 38 more horsepower (789 vs. 751) than the GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the 812’s brake rotors are larger than those on the GranTurismo Folgore:

GranTurismo Folgore

Front Rotors

15.7 inches

15 inches

Rear Rotors

14.2 inches

13.8 inches

The 812 has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the 812 has larger tires than the GranTurismo Folgore (F:275/35R20 & R:315/35R20 vs. F:265/30R20 & R:295/30R21).

The 812 offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the GranTurismo Folgore; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Chassis

The Ferrari 812 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1350 pounds less than the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore.

The 812 is 10.4 inches shorter than the GranTurismo Folgore, making the 812 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The 812’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

Ergonomics

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The 812 has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer headlight washers.
