Compare the2024 Ferrari 812VS 2024 Maserati GranCabrio

To maximize occupant safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Ferrari 812 have pretensioners to eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Maserati GranCabrio doesn’t offer pretensioners.

Both the 812 and the GranCabrio have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, front and rear parking sensors and available rearview cameras.

The 812 comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The GranCabrio’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The 812’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the GranCabrio’s (unlimited vs. 50,000 miles).

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the 812 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Maserati doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the GranCabrio.

The 812’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 247 more horsepower (789 vs. 542) and 43 lbs.-ft. more torque (530 vs. 487) than the GranCabrio’s 3.0 turbo V6.

The 812 has 5.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the GranCabrio (24.3 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The 812 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The GranCabrio doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The 812 offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The GranCabrio doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

For better stopping power the 812’s brake rotors are larger than those on the GranCabrio:

The 812 has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The GranCabrio doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the 812 has larger tires than the GranCabrio (F:275/35R20 & R:315/35R20 vs. F:265/30R20 & R:295/30R21).

The 812 offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the GranCabrio; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Ferrari 812 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 700 pounds less than the Maserati GranCabrio.

The 812 is 10.7 inches shorter than the GranCabrio, making the 812 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The 812’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The GranCabrio doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

The 812 GTS has a much larger trunk with its top down than the GranCabrio with its top down (7.42 vs. 4.6 cubic feet). The 812 GTS has a much larger trunk than the GranCabrio with its top up (7.42 vs. 6.1 cubic feet).

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The 812 has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The GranCabrio doesn’t offer headlight washers.
