Safety

The 12Cilindri has standard crash mitigation brakes, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The 750S doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

The 12Cilindri’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The 750S doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The 12Cilindri has standard GPS Response System, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The 750S doesn’t offer a GPS response system, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the 12Cilindri and the 750S have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control and electronic stability systems to prevent skidding.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri weighs 730 to 838 pounds more than the McLaren 750S. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts. Crosswinds also affect lighter cars more.

Warranty

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the 12Cilindri for 4 years and unlimited miles longer than McLaren pays for maintenance for the 750S (7/unlimited vs. 3/unlimited).

Engine

The 12Cilindri’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 79 more horsepower (819 vs. 740) than the 750S’ 4.0 turbo V8.

Fuel Economy and Range

The 12Cilindri has 5.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the 750S (24.3 vs. 19 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Transmission

An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Ferrari 12Cilindri, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the 750S.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the 12Cilindri’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the 750S:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the 12Cilindri has larger tires than the 750S (F:275/35R21 & R:315/35R21 vs. F:245/35R19 & R:305/30R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the 12Cilindri has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are available on the 750S.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the 12Cilindri’s wheelbase is 1.2 inches longer than on the 750S (106.3 inches vs. 105.1 inches).

The 12Cilindri’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (48.4% to 51.6%) than the 750S’ (41.2% to 58.8%). This gives the 12Cilindri more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the 12Cilindri’s turning circle is .9 feet tighter than the 750S’ (39.1 feet vs. 40 feet).

Ergonomics

The 12Cilindri’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The 750S does not have an oil pressure gauge.

If the windows are left open on the 12Cilindri the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the 750S can’t use the remote to operate the windows.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the 12Cilindri keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The 750S doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The 12Cilindri has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the 750S.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the 12Cilindri has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The 750S doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.
