The 12Cilindri’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the GranTurismo.

Both the 12Cilindri and the GranTurismo have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and daytime running lights.

The 12Cilindri comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The GranTurismo’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The 12Cilindri’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the GranTurismo’s (unlimited vs. 50,000 miles).

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the 12Cilindri for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Maserati doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the GranTurismo.

The 12Cilindri’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 336 more horsepower (819 vs. 483) and 57 lbs.-ft. more torque (500 vs. 443) than the GranTurismo Modena’s standard 3.0 turbo V6. The 12Cilindri’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 277 more horsepower (819 vs. 542) and 13 lbs.-ft. more torque (500 vs. 487) than the GranTurismo Trofeo’s standard 3.0 turbo V6.

The 12Cilindri has 5.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the GranTurismo (24.3 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The 12Cilindri offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

For better stopping power the 12Cilindri’s brake rotors are larger than those on the GranTurismo:

The 12Cilindri has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the 12Cilindri has larger tires than the GranTurismo (F:275/35R21 & R:315/35R21 vs. F:265/30R20 & R:295/30R21).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the 12Cilindri has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch front wheels are available on the GranTurismo.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the 12Cilindri is 1.6 inches wider in the front than on the GranTurismo.

The 12Cilindri is 8.9 inches shorter than the GranTurismo Modena, making the 12Cilindri easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The 12Cilindri’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

The 12Cilindri has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the GranTurismo.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Maserati GranTurismo isn’t available as a convertible.
