2024 Aston Martin DBS

Safety

The 12Cilindri has standard crash mitigation brakes, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The DBS doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

The 12Cilindri’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The DBS doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The 12Cilindri has standard GPS Response System, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The DBS doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the 12Cilindri and the DBS have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and blind spot warning systems.

Warranty

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the 12Cilindri for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Aston Martin doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the DBS.

Engine

The 12Cilindri’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 104 more horsepower (819 vs. 715) than the DBS’ standard 5.2 turbo V12. The 12Cilindri’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 59 more horsepower (819 vs. 760) than the DBS 770 Ultimate Edition’s standard 5.2 turbo V12.

Fuel Economy and Range

The 12Cilindri has 3.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the DBS (24.3 vs. 21.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Transmission

The 12Cilindri offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The DBS doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The 12Cilindri’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The DBS doesn’t offer launch control.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the 12Cilindri has larger tires than the DBS (F:275/35R21 & R:315/35R21 vs. F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21).

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the 12Cilindri’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the DBS’ (39.1 feet vs. 40.7 feet).

Chassis

The 12Cilindri’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The DBS doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

Cargo Capacity

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the 12Cilindri. The DBS doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

Ergonomics

The 12Cilindri’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The DBS does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The 12Cilindri’s optional sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The DBS’ visors are fixed into the windshield header.

The 12Cilindri has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the DBS.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the 12Cilindri has a standard adaptive cruise control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The DBS doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Ferrari 12Cilindri has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the front center console. The DBS doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
