To maximize occupant safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Lexus LC have pretensioners to eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Maserati GranCabrio Foglore doesn’t offer pretensioners.

The Lexus LC has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The GranCabrio Foglore doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The LC has standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The GranCabrio Foglore doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

The LC’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the GranCabrio Foglore.

The LC has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the GranCabrio Foglore’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the LC has standard Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, helping the driver avoid collisions. Maserati charges extra for Rear Cross Path on the GranCabrio Foglore.

Both the LC and the GranCabrio Foglore have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Lexus’ powertrain warranty covers the LC 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Maserati covers the GranCabrio Foglore. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the GranCabrio Foglore ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The LC’s corrosion warranty is 2 years and unlimited miles longer than the GranCabrio Foglore’s (6/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).

There are over 2 times as many Lexus dealers as there are Maserati dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the LC’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the LC first among compact premium sporty cars in their 2024 Initial Quality Study. The GranCabrio Foglore isn’t in the top three in its category.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the LC offers optional 21-inch wheels. The GranCabrio Foglore’s largest wheels are only 20-inches in the front and 21-inches in the rear.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the LC can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The GranCabrio Foglore doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

For better maneuverability, the LC Active Rear Steering’s turning circle is 5.9 feet tighter than the GranCabrio Foglore’s (34.8 feet vs. 40.7 feet). The LC’s turning circle is 5.3 feet tighter than the GranCabrio Foglore’s (35.4 feet vs. 40.7 feet).

The Lexus LC may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 600 to 800 pounds less than the Maserati GranCabrio Foglore.

The LC is 8.1 inches shorter than the GranCabrio Foglore, making the LC easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The LC Convertible uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The GranCabrio Foglore doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

With its coupe body style, valet key and remote trunk release lockout, the LC offers cargo security. The GranCabrio Foglore’s non-lockable remote release defeats cargo security.

The LC’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The GranCabrio Foglore doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The LC’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children from operating them, but the driver can still raise and lower both of them with the lock engaged. Maserati does not offer a locking feature on the GranCabrio Foglore’s standard power windows.

If the front windows are left open on the LC the driver can close them at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. (This window function must be activated by your Lexus service department.) The driver of the GranCabrio Foglore can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Lexus LC comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Maserati GranCabrio Foglore isn’t available as a coupe.
