Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the Urus has larger standard tires than the Cayenne (F:285/45R21 & R:315/40R21 vs. F:255/55R20 & R:295/45R20).
The Urus’ standard 285/45R21 front and 315/40R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Cayenne’s standard 55 series front and 45 series rear tires. The Urus’ optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Cayenne’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Urus has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the Cayenne. The Urus’ optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the Cayenne.
Suspension and Handling
The front and rear suspension of the Urus uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Cayenne, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.
For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Urus S’ wheelbase is 4.2 inches longer than on the Cayenne (118.2 inches vs. 114 inches).
The Urus Performante handles at 1.04 G’s, while the Cayenne pulls only 1.02 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.
The Urus Performante executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.5 seconds quicker than the Cayenne S (23.1 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 25.6 seconds @ .75 average G’s).
For better maneuverability, the Urus’ turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the Cayenne’s (38.7 feet vs. 39.7 feet).
For greater off-road capability the Urus has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Cayenne E-Hybrid (8.4 vs. 8.2 inches), allowing the Urus to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Urus’ minimum ground clearance is .3 inch higher than on the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid (9.8 vs. 9.5 inches).
Passenger Space
The Urus has 1.9 inches more front headroom and .5 inches more front legroom than the Cayenne.
Towing
While the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid can only tow 6614, any Urus can tow a minimum of 7716 pounds.
