An active infrared night vision system optional on the Urus helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Q7 doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Urus and the Q7 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Urus comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Q7’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Lamborghini pays for scheduled maintenance on the Urus for 5 years and 75000 miles. Lamborghini will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 5 visits). Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Q7.

The Urus’ standard 4.0 turbo V8 produces 396 more horsepower (657 vs. 261) and 354 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 273) than the Q7 45 TFSI’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 322 more horsepower (657 vs. 335) and 258 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 369) than the Q7 55 TFSI’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid. The Urus SE’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 454 more horsepower (789 vs. 335) and 221 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 369) than the Q7 55 TFSI’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid.

The Urus SE can travel with zero emissions for 37 miles. The Q7 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

For better stopping power the Urus’ brake rotors are larger than those on the Q7:

The Urus has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Q7 doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Urus stops much shorter than the Q7:

For better traction, the Urus has larger standard tires than the Q7 (F:285/45R21 & R:315/40R21 vs. 255/55R19).

The Urus’ standard 285/45R21 front and 315/40R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Q7’s standard 55 series tires. The Urus’ optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Q7’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Urus has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Q7. The Urus’ optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the Q7.

The Urus offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Q7; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the Q7 don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

The Urus has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Q7 doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Urus uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Q7, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Urus S/SE offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Audi doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Q7.

The Urus S/SE has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Urus’ height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Q7 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Urus Performante handles at 1.04 G’s, while the Q7 Prestige pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Urus Performante executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 3.4 seconds quicker than the Q7 Prestige (23.1 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 26.5 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Urus’ turning circle is 2.3 feet tighter than the Q7’s (38.7 feet vs. 41 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Urus has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Q7 (8.4 vs. 8.3 inches), allowing the Urus to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Urus’ minimum ground clearance is .1 inch higher than on the Q7 w/Air Suspension (9.8 vs. 9.7 inches).

The Lamborghini Urus may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 200 pounds less than the Audi Q7.

The Urus has 1 inch more front headroom and 1.2 inches more rear legroom than the Q7.

The Urus has a much larger cargo volume than the Q7 with its rear seat up (21.8 vs. 13.6 cubic feet).

The Urus’ standard towing capacity is much higher than the Q7’s (7716 vs. 4409 pounds).

The Urus’ instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Q7 does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Q7’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Urus’ standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.
