Safety

The Lamborghini Temerario has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The MC20 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Temerario has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The MC20 doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Temerario’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The MC20 doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

Both the Temerario and MC20 offer rear cross-traffic warning, but the Temerario with Rear Cross Traffic Alert also has Rear Cross Traffic Alert (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The MC20’s Rear Cross Path doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Temerario and the MC20 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, blind spot warning systems and around view monitors.

Warranty

The Temerario comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The MC20’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The Temerario’s corrosion warranty is 8 years and unlimited miles longer than the MC20’s (12/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).

Lamborghini pays for scheduled maintenance on the Temerario for 5 years and 75000 miles. Lamborghini will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 5 visits). Maserati doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the MC20.

Engine

The Temerario’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 286 more horsepower (907 vs. 621) and 52 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 538) than the MC20’s 3.0 turbo V6.

Fuel Economy and Range

Regenerative brakes improve the Temerario’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The MC20 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

Drivetrain

All wheel drive, available in the Temerario, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Maserati MC20 is not available with all wheel drive.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Temerario’s brake rotors are larger than those on the MC20:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Temerario has larger tires than the MC20 (F:255/35R20 & R:325/30R21 vs. F:245/35R20 & R:305/30R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Temerario has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the MC20.

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Temerario is 1.6 inches wider in the front and .8 inches wider in the rear than on the MC20.

The Temerario’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (43.4% to 56.6%) than the MC20’s (41% to 59%). This gives the Temerario more stable handling and braking.

Ergonomics

The Temerario’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The MC20 has neither an oil pressure gauge nor a temperature gauge.

The Temerario’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The MC20’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Temerario keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The MC20 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Temerario offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The MC20 doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
