Compare the2024 Ford Mustang Mach-EVS 2025 Lincoln Aviator

With its standard Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, the Ford Mustang Mach-E is better at preventing collisions with pedestrians than the Lincoln Aviator, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety:

Both the Mustang Mach-E and the Aviator have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Instrumented handling tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and analysis of its dimensions indicate that the Mustang Mach-E, with its five-star roll-over rating, is 5.2% to 6.5% less likely to roll over than the Aviator, which received a four-star rating.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E (built after August 2024) has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2024 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The Aviator is not even a standard “Top Safety Pick” for 2024.

There are over 5 times as many Ford dealers as there are Lincoln dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Mustang Mach-E’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Ford vehicles are better in initial quality than Lincoln vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Ford above average in initial quality. With 45 more problems per 100 vehicles, Lincoln is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Ford vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln With 12 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Ford higher than Lincoln.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Ford vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Ford 1 place higher in reliability than Lincoln.

The Mustang Mach-E eAWD’s standard electric motors produces 85 lbs.-ft. more torque (500 vs. 415) than the Aviator’s 3.0 turbo V6. The Mustang Mach-E ER eAWD’s standard electric motors produces 85 lbs.-ft. more torque (500 vs. 415) than the Aviator’s 3.0 turbo V6. The Mustang Mach-E GT Performance/Rally’s standard electric motors produces 80 more horsepower (480 vs. 400) and 285 lbs.-ft. more torque (700 vs. 415) than the Aviator’s 3.0 turbo V6.

The Mustang Mach-E can travel with zero emissions for 230 to 320 miles (dependent on model). The Aviator can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Mustang Mach-E’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Aviator doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ford Mustang Mach-E higher (10 out of 10) than the Lincoln Aviator (5). This means the Mustang Mach-E produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Aviator every 15,000 miles.

The Mustang Mach-E GT handles at .86 G’s, while the Aviator AWD pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Mustang Mach-E GT executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.2 seconds quicker than the Aviator AWD (25.9 seconds @ .7 average G’s vs. 27.1 seconds @ .69 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Mustang Mach-E’s turning circle is 1.1 feet tighter than the Aviator’s (38.1 feet vs. 39.2 feet).

The Ford Mustang Mach-E may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 350 pounds less than the Lincoln Aviator.

The Mustang Mach-E Select/Premium is 1 foot, 1.7 inches shorter than the Aviator, making the Mustang Mach-E easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Mustang Mach-E is 5.5 inches narrower than the Aviator, making the Mustang Mach-E easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The Mustang Mach-E has a much larger cargo volume than the Aviator with its rear seat up (29.7 vs. 18.3 cubic feet).

Consumer Reports rated the Mustang Mach-E’s headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the Aviator’s headlights, which were rated “Poor.”

A group of representative automotive journalists from North America selected the Mustang Mach-E as the 2021 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. The Aviator has never been chosen.
