Safety

Both the F-Pace and X6 M have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The F-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The X6 M’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Both the F-Pace and X6 M have rear cross-traffic warning, but the F-Pace has Rear Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The X6 M’s Cross Traffic Warning doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the F-Pace and the X6 M have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The X6 M’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 2 years and 24,000 miles longer than BMW pays for maintenance for the X6 M (5/60,000 vs. 3/36,000).

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than BMW vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar above average in initial quality. With 18 more problems per 100 vehicles, BMW is rated below average.

Tires and Wheels

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace offers optional 22-inch wheels. The X6 M’s largest wheels are only 21-inches in the front and 22-inches in the rear.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the F-Pace can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The X6 M doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the X6 M; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the F-Pace’s turning circle is 2.8 feet tighter than the X6 M’s (39.2 feet vs. 42 feet). The F-Pace SVR’s turning circle is 2.6 feet tighter than the X6 M’s (39.4 feet vs. 42 feet).

For greater off-road capability the F-Pace SVR has a greater minimum ground clearance than the X6 M (8.6 vs. 8.4 inches), allowing the F-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Jaguar F-Pace may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 900 to 1450 pounds less than the BMW X6 M.

The F-Pace is 7.9 inches shorter than the X6 M, making the F-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The X6 M doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The F-Pace has .4 inches more front headroom, 1 inch more rear headroom and 1.5 inches more rear legroom than the X6 M.

Cargo Capacity

The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the X6 M with its rear seat up (32.1 vs. 27.4 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the X6 M with its rear seat folded (70.4 vs. 59.6 cubic feet).

The F-Pace’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The X6 M’s tailgate’s top part raises up, but the bottom part lowers, getting in the way of loading and making an uneven surface for sliding cargo.

Payload and Towing

The F-Pace has a 5291 lbs. towing capacity. The X6 M has no towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Stability Assist on the F-Pace uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The X6 M doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The F-Pace has a much higher standard payload capacity than the X6 M (1510 vs. 1025 lbs.).

Ergonomics

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the F-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The X6 M doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the F-Pace has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the X6 M only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The F-Pace SVR has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The X6 M doesn’t offer headlight washers.

Recommendations

J.D. Power and Associates rated the F-Pace second among compact premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The X6 M isn’t in the top three in its category.
