The Taycan’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Celestiq doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Taycan has standard multi-collision braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Celestiq doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Taycan helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Celestiq doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Taycan’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Celestiq doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

The Taycan has standard Porsche Connect, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Celestiq doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Taycan and the Celestiq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The Taycan’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the Celestiq’s (12 vs. 6 years).

Porsche pays for scheduled maintenance on the Taycan for 2 years and 24,000 miles. Porsche will pay for cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Celestiq.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Taycan first among upper midsize premium cars in their 2024 Initial Quality Study. The Celestiq isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in initial quality. With 42 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in long-term dependability. With 15 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Cadillac is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Porsche vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Porsche 8 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The Taycan Turbo GT’s standard electric motors produces 419 more horsepower (1019 vs. 600) and 274 lbs.-ft. more torque (914 vs. 640) than the Celestiq’s electric motors.

The Taycan RWD Performance Battery Plus can travel longer on a full charge than the Celestiq (318 miles vs. 300 miles).

The Taycan has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Celestiq doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the Taycan’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Celestiq:

The Taycan offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Celestiq doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Taycan’s optional 305/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Celestiq’s optional 35 series tires.

The Taycan has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Taycan’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Celestiq doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Porsche Taycan may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 800 to 1350 pounds less than the Cadillac Celestiq.

The Taycan is 1 foot, 9.8 inches shorter than the Celestiq, making the Taycan easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Taycan uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Celestiq doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Taycan offers optional seating for 5 passengers; the Celestiq can only carry 4.

The Taycan’s available rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Celestiq doesn’t offer folding rear seats.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Taycan’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Celestiq doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Porsche service is better than Cadillac. J.D. Power ranks Porsche second in service department satisfaction. With a 11% lower rating, Cadillac is ranked fifth.

The Porsche Taycan has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are not standard on all versions of the Celestiq.

The Porsche Taycan comes in sedan and station wagon bodystyles; the Cadillac Celestiq isn’t available as a station wagon.

The Taycan is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Celestiq doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
