To maximize occupant safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Porsche 911 have pretensioners to eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer pretensioners.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the 911 helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The 911’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the GranTurismo Folgore.

The 911 offers an optional Surround View to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The GranTurismo Folgore only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the 911 and GranTurismo Folgore offer rear cross-traffic warning, but the 911 with Rear Cross Traffic Alert also has Rear Cross Traffic Alert (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The GranTurismo Folgore’s Rear Cross Path doesn’t automatically brake.

The 911 has standard Porsche Connect, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the 911 and the GranTurismo Folgore have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes and blind spot warning systems.

The 911’s corrosion warranty is 8 years and unlimited miles longer than the GranTurismo Folgore’s (12/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).

There are over 83 percent more Porsche dealers than there are Maserati dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the 911’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the 911 second among premium sporty cars in their 2024 Initial Quality Study. The GranTurismo Folgore isn’t in the top three in its category.

The flat cylinder configuration of the boxer engine in the 911 lowers its center of gravity, enhancing handling stability. The GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer a boxer engine configuration.

For better stopping power the 911 CCB’s brake rotors are larger than those on the GranTurismo Folgore:

The 911 offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the 911 GT3 RS’ optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the GranTurismo Folgore (F:275/30R20 & R:335/30R21 vs. F:265/30R20 & R:295/30R21).

The 911 (except Base/GT3) offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

For better maneuverability, the 911 GT3’s turning circle is 6.6 feet tighter than the GranTurismo Folgore’s (34.1 feet vs. 40.7 feet). The 911’s turning circle is 4 feet tighter than the GranTurismo Folgore’s (36.7 feet vs. 40.7 feet).

The Porsche 911 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1100 to 1950 pounds less than the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore.

The 911 is 1 foot, 4.7 inches shorter than the GranTurismo Folgore, making the 911 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The 911’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

The 911 is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
