Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The 911 (except Manual/GT3) offers an optional Maneuvering Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The F-Type doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the 911 helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The F-Type doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The 911 offers an optional Surround View to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The F-Type only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

The 911’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the F-Type’s (12 vs. 6 years).

There are over 35 percent more Porsche dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the 911’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the 911’s reliability 20 points higher than the F-Type.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the 911 second among premium sporty cars in their 2024 Initial Quality Study. The F-Type isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in initial quality. With 16 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is rated lower.

The 911 has more powerful engines than the F-Type:

Regenerative brakes improve the 911 GTS’ fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The F-Type doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The 911’s optional fuel tank has 3.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the F-Type (22.1 vs. 18.5 gallons).

The 911 offers a manual transmission for better acceleration, control and sportiness. The F-Type doesn’t offer a manual transmission.

The 911 offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The F-Type doesn’t offer an SMG.

The design of the Porsche 911 amounts to more than styling. The 911 offers aerodynamic coefficients of drag from .31 to .33 Cd (depending on bodystyle and options). That is lower than the F-Type (.35 to .36). A more efficient exterior helps the 911 go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the 911 get better fuel mileage.

The front grille of the 911 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The F-Type doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the 911 (except Cabriolet/GT3) offers an optional rear wiper. The F-Type doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The F-Type’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The 911’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The 911’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The F-Type’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.

The 911 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the F-Type.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the 911 (except Manual) offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The F-Type doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

With standard Voice Control, the 911 offers the driver hands free control of the radio and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The F-Type doesn’t offer a voice control system.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Porsche 911 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the front center console. The F-Type doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The 911 (except Manual/GT3)’s optional Active Parking Support can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Optional Remote ParkAssist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The F-Type’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.

The 911 will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the 911 will retain 57.8% to 64.01% of its original price after five years, while the F-Type only retains 49.86% to 51.21%.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the 911 second among premium sporty cars in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The F-Type isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Porsche 911 outsold the Jaguar F-Type by over 10 to one during 2023.
