The EQS SUV’s optional power side swing out doors make it much easier to load and unload kids and cargo. One touch opens the door, before you even get to the sport utility. The Q8 e-tron doesn’t offer a power rear door.
The EQS SUV’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Q8 e-tron’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.
Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the EQS SUV to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Q8 e-tron doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.
Consumer Reports rated the EQS SUV’s headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the Q8 e-tron’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”
To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the EQS SUV has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Q8 e-tron doesn’t offer cornering lights. The EQS SUV also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.
To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the EQS SUV Maybach has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Q8 e-tron doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.
The EQS SUV has standard front air conditioned seats and the EQS SUV Maybach also has them in the second row. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The Q8 e-tron doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.
Both the EQS SUV and the Q8 e-tron offer available massaging front seats. The EQS SUV Maybach also has standard massaging second row seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the Q8 e-tron.
To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Mercedes EQS SUV has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Q8 e-tron. The EQS SUV also offers Qi charging in the second row seat. The Q8 e-tron doesn’t offer wireless charging in its rear seat.
