Both the Range Rover Evoque and Hornet have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover Evoque has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Hornet’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Both the Range Rover Evoque and Hornet have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Range Rover Evoque has Rear Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Hornet’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Range Rover Evoque and the Hornet have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The Range Rover Evoque comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Hornet’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Range Rover Evoque’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Hornet’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Land Rover vehicles are better in initial quality than Dodge vehicles. With 87 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Land Rover higher than Dodge.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Range Rover Evoque has 6.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the Hornet R/T’s standard fuel tank (17.7 vs. 11.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Range Rover Evoque has 4.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Hornet GT’s standard fuel tank (17.7 vs. 13.5 gallons).

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Range Rover Evoque’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Hornet:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Range Rover Evoque has larger standard tires than the Hornet (235/60R18 vs. 215/60R17). The Range Rover Evoque’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Hornet (245/45R21 vs. 235/40R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Evoque has standard 18-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the Hornet GT. The Range Rover Evoque’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Hornet.

Suspension and Handling

The Range Rover Evoque has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The Hornet doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Range Rover Evoque’s wheelbase is 1.7 inches longer than on the Hornet (105.5 inches vs. 103.8 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover Evoque is 1.7 inches wider in the front and 2 inches wider in the rear than on the Hornet.

The Range Rover Evoque Dynamic SE handles at .86 G’s, while the Hornet GT pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Range Rover Evoque Dynamic SE executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Hornet GT (26.9 seconds @ .65 average G’s vs. 27.6 seconds @ .62 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover Evoque has a 2.2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Hornet R/T (8.3 vs. 6.1 inches), allowing the Range Rover Evoque to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover Evoque’s minimum ground clearance is .3 inch higher than on the Hornet GT (8.3 vs. 8 inches).

Chassis

The Range Rover Evoque is 5.9 inches shorter than the Hornet, making the Range Rover Evoque easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

The Range Rover Evoque has .9 inches more front shoulder room and .6 inches more rear shoulder room than the Hornet.

The front step up height for the Range Rover Evoque is 1.1 inches lower than the Hornet (18.7” vs. 19.8”). The Range Rover Evoque’s rear step up height is 1.2 inches lower than the Hornet’s (18.5” vs. 19.7”).

Cargo Capacity

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Range Rover Evoque easier. The Range Rover Evoque’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 28.7 inches, while the Hornet’s liftover is 31.8 inches.

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Range Rover Evoque. The Hornet doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

Towing

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Hornet’s (3935 vs. 2000 pounds).

Standard Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) on the Range Rover Evoque uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Hornet doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Ergonomics

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Hornet doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Range Rover Evoque offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Hornet doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard Passive Keyless Entry allows you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless Enter-N-Go standard on the Hornet doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Range Rover Evoque to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Hornet doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Evoque has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Hornet only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Range Rover Evoque offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Hornet doesn’t offer headlight washers.

When the Range Rover Evoque is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Hornet’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Hornet offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Range Rover Evoque has standard heated front seats. Heated front seats cost extra on the Hornet. The Range Rover Evoque also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Hornet.

The Range Rover Evoque has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Hornet.

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Dodge charges extra for Homelink® on the Hornet.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Hornet.
