The Range Rover’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Aviator doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Range Rover. But it costs extra on the Aviator.

Both the Range Rover and the Aviator have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Range Rover P530’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 produces 123 more horsepower (523 vs. 400) and 138 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 415) than the Aviator’s 3.0 turbo V6. The Range Rover P550e’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 143 more horsepower (543 vs. 400) than the Aviator’s 3.0 turbo V6. The Range Rover SV’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 produces 206 more horsepower (606 vs. 400) and 138 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 415) than the Aviator’s 3.0 turbo V6.

The Range Rover P550e can travel with zero emissions for 53 miles. The Aviator can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Aviator doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Range Rover’s standard fuel tank has 3.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the Aviator (23.8 vs. 20.2 gallons).

The Range Rover P440e has a standard locking fuel door with a power remote release convenient to the driver. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Aviator. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

The Range Rover’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Aviator doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction, the Range Rover has larger standard tires than the Aviator (275/50R21 vs. 255/55R20). The Range Rover’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Aviator (285/40R23 vs. 275/40R22).

The Range Rover’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Aviator’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the Aviator. The Range Rover’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the Aviator.

The Range Rover offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Aviator; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

The Range Rover offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Aviator doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Range Rover uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Aviator, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Range Rover offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Lincoln doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Aviator.

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover SWB’s turning circle is 3.3 feet tighter than the Aviator’s (35.9 feet vs. 39.2 feet). The Range Rover LWB’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the Aviator’s (37.9 feet vs. 39.2 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover has a 2.9 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Aviator (11.6 vs. 8.7 inches), allowing the Range Rover to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Range Rover’s middle and third row seats recline. The Aviator’s third row seats don’t recline.

Flexibility is maximized at the game, campground or a drive-in theatre in the Range Rover when its optional tailgating rear seats are deployed, allowing people to sit facing out of the tailgate. (Do not use while vehicle is in motion.) The Aviator doesn’t offer tailgating seats.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Range Rover’s available tailgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Aviator doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Aviator, the Range Rover has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Range Rover’s standard Passive Keyless Entry allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Intelligent Access standard on the Aviator doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Range Rover to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Aviator doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Range Rover has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Aviator doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To better shield the driver’s vision, the Range Rover has a standard driver’s side dual-element sun visor that can block glare from two directions simultaneously (Range Rover also offers optional passenger side dual sun visors). The Aviator doesn’t offer a secondary sun visor.

When the Range Rover is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Aviator’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

Both the Range Rover and the Aviator offer available massaging front seats. The Range Rover also offers optional massaging second row seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging second row seats aren’t available in the Aviator.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Range Rover first among large premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Aviator isn’t in the top three.

The Land Rover Range Rover outsold the Lincoln Aviator by 438 units during 2023.
