Both the Range Rover and X7 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The X7’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Both the Range Rover and the X7 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Land Rover Range Rover may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 200 pounds less than the BMW X7.

The Range Rover SWB is 4.7 inches shorter than the X7, making the Range Rover easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Land Rover Range Rover amounts to more than styling. The Range Rover offers aerodynamic coefficients of drag from .3 to .33 Cd (depending on bodystyle and options). That is lower than the X7 (.32 to .34) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Range Rover get better fuel mileage.

The Range Rover uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The X7 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Flexibility is maximized at the game, campground or a drive-in theatre in the Range Rover when its optional tailgating rear seats are deployed, allowing people to sit facing out of the tailgate. (Do not use while vehicle is in motion.) The X7 doesn’t offer tailgating seats.

To better shield the driver’s vision, the Range Rover has a standard driver’s side dual-element sun visor that can block glare from two directions simultaneously (Range Rover also offers optional passenger side dual sun visors). The X7 doesn’t offer a secondary sun visor.

Standard air conditioned seats in the front and second seat rows keep the Range Rover’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The X7 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.
