In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Bronco Sport are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Corsair doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Bronco Sport. But it costs extra on the Corsair.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Bronco Sport Sasquatch/Badlands’ standard Trail Control allows you to creep down safely. The Corsair doesn’t offer Trail Control.

Both the Bronco Sport and the Corsair have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Ford Bronco Sport is safer than the Lincoln Corsair:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Ford Bronco Sport is safer than the Lincoln Corsair:

Warranty

There are over 5 times as many Ford dealers as there are Lincoln dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Bronco Sport’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Bronco Sport first among small suvs in their 2024 Initial Quality Study. The Corsair isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Ford vehicles are better in initial quality than Lincoln vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Ford above average in initial quality. With 45 more problems per 100 vehicles, Lincoln is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Ford vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln With 12 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Ford higher than Lincoln.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Ford vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Ford 1 place higher in reliability than Lincoln.

Engine

As tested in Motor Trend the Bronco Sport Badlands 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder is faster than the Lincoln Corsair turbo 4 cyl.:

The Bronco Sport has 4.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the Corsair Grand Touring’s standard fuel tank (16 vs. 11.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Tires and Wheels

The Bronco Sport offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Corsair; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

Chassis

The Ford Bronco Sport may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 800 pounds less than the Lincoln Corsair.

The Bronco Sport is 8.7 inches shorter than the Corsair, making the Bronco Sport easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

The Bronco Sport has 3.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Corsair (105.7 vs. 102.5).

The Bronco Sport has 2 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more front shoulder room, 3 inches more rear headroom and 2.6 inches more rear hip room than the Corsair.

Cargo Capacity

The Bronco Sport has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Corsair with its rear seat up (32.5 vs. 27.6 cubic feet). The Bronco Sport has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Corsair with its rear seat folded (65.2 vs. 57.6 cubic feet).

The Bronco Sport’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the liftgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The Corsair’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

Ergonomics

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The Bronco Sport’s headlights were rated “Good” by the IIHS, while the Corsair’s headlights are rated “Acceptable” to “Poor.”

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Ford Bronco Sport has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Corsair.

The Bronco Sport offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Corsair doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

Economic Advantages

The Bronco Sport will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Bronco Sport will retain 58.63% to 60.38% of its original price after five years, while the Corsair only retains 47.93% to 52.69%.

Recommendations

The Ford Bronco Sport outsold the Lincoln Corsair by over five to one during 2023.
