The Express Cargo’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The eSprinter doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the eSprinter ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The Express Cargo’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the eSprinter’s (6 vs. 5 years).

There are almost 8 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Mercedes dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Express Cargo’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet second in initial quality, above the industry average. With 46 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is ranked 21st, below the industry average.

Power ranks Chevrolet fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 44 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is ranked 21st.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Chevrolet 9 places higher in reliability than Mercedes.

The Express Cargo’s standard 4.3 V6 produces 140 more horsepower (276 vs. 136) and 3 lbs.-ft. more torque (298 vs. 295) than the eSprinter’s standard electric motor. The Express Cargo’s 4.3 V6 produces 72 more horsepower (276 vs. 204) and 3 lbs.-ft. more torque (298 vs. 295) than the eSprinter’s optional electric motor. The Express Cargo’s optional 6.6 V8 produces 197 more horsepower (401 vs. 204) and 169 lbs.-ft. more torque (464 vs. 295) than the eSprinter’s optional electric motor.

The Express Cargo’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the eSprinter are solid, not vented.

The Chevrolet Express Cargo’s wheels have 8 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Mercedes eSprinter only has 6 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Express Cargo has standard front gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The eSprinter’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The front suspension of the Express Cargo uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the eSprinter, which uses leaf springs. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

For better maneuverability, the Express Cargo 2500 135” WB’s turning circle is 2.8 feet tighter than the eSprinter’s (49.2 feet vs. 52 feet).

The Chevrolet Express Cargo may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1000 to 1500 pounds less than the Mercedes eSprinter.
