2025 Volvo EX30
2024 Acura ZDX

Safety

The EX30 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The ZDX doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The EX30 has standard Post-impact braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The ZDX doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

The EX30’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The ZDX doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the EX30 and the ZDX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The EX30’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the ZDX’s (12 vs. 5 years).

Volvo pays for scheduled maintenance on the EX30 for 2 years and 18000 miles longer than Acura pays for maintenance for the ZDX (3/30,000 vs. 1/12000).

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the EX30’s turning circle is 4.5 feet tighter than the ZDX’s (35.1 feet vs. 39.6 feet).

Chassis

The Volvo EX30 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1550 to 1900 pounds less than the Acura ZDX.

The EX30 is 2 feet, 7 inches shorter than the ZDX, making the EX30 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

The EX30 has 3.9 inches more front headroom, .5 inches more front legroom and 1.3 inches more rear headroom than the ZDX.

Cargo Capacity

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the EX30. The ZDX doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

Ergonomics

The EX30’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The ZDX has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.
