An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Envision’s fuel efficiency. The GV70 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.
To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Buick Envision uses regular unleaded gasoline (mid-grade octane recommended for maximum performance). The GV70 with the 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder engine requires premium, which can cost on average about 35.1 cents more per gallon.
The Envision has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The GV70 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
Environmental Friendliness
In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Buick Envision higher (6 out of 10) than the Genesis GV70 (5). This means the Envision produces up to 6.9 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the GV70 every 15,000 miles.
Transmission
A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Buick Envision, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the GV70.

Suspension and Handling
The Envision’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The GV70 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.
Chassis
The Buick Envision may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 500 pounds less than the Genesis GV70.
The front grille of the Envision uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The GV70 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.
The Envision uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The GV70 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.
Towing
Standard Trailer Sway Control (TSC) on the Envision uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The GV70 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.
Servicing Ease
J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Buick service is better than Genesis. J.D. Power ranks Buick third in service department satisfaction. With a 75% lower rating, Genesis is ranked 31st.
Ergonomics
The Envision has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The GV70 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.
The Envision’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The GV70 does not have an oil pressure gauge.
The Envision’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, unlock the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Proximity Key standard on the GV70 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.
To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Envision has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The GV70 doesn’t offer cornering lights. The Envision also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.
