Compare the2025 BMW iXVS 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S

The iX’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The BMW iX has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

The iX’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the front seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The iX has a standard PostCrash iBrake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Full-time four-wheel drive is standard on the iX. Full-time four-wheel drive gives added traction for safety in all conditions, not just off-road, like the only system available on the Wagoneer S.

Both the iX and Wagoneer S have rear cross-traffic warning, but the iX has Cross Traffic Warning with braking function (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Wagoneer S’ Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the iX and the Wagoneer S have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The iX comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Wagoneer S’ 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The iX’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the Wagoneer S’ (12 vs. 5 years).

BMW pays for scheduled maintenance on the iX for 1 year longer than Jeep pays for maintenance for the Wagoneer S (3 years vs. 2 years).

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that BMW vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks BMW 11 places higher in reliability than Jeep.

The iX M60’s standard electric motors produces 10 more horsepower (610 vs. 600) and 194 lbs.-ft. more torque (811 vs. 617) than the Wagoneer S’ electric motors.

The iX can travel longer on a full charge than the Wagoneer S on a full charge:

The iX has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Wagoneer S doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better traction, the iX’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Wagoneer S (275/40R22 vs. 235/50R20).

The iX’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Wagoneer S’ 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the iX offers optional 22-inch wheels. The Wagoneer S’ largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The iX offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Wagoneer S’ suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The iX has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The iX’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the iX’s wheelbase is 5.1 inches longer than on the Wagoneer S (118.1 inches vs. 113 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the iX is 1.3 inches wider in the front and 2.3 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Wagoneer S.

For greater off-road capability the iX has a 2.3 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Wagoneer S (8.7 vs. 6.4 inches), allowing the iX to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The iX has 3.5 inches more front headroom, 4.1 inches more front shoulder room, 2.1 inches more rear headroom, .9 inches more rear legroom and .7 inches more rear shoulder room than the Wagoneer S.

The iX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Wagoneer S 4dr Sport Utility with its rear seat up (35.5 vs. 30.6 cubic feet). The iX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Wagoneer S 4dr Sport Utility with its rear seat folded (77.9 vs. 61 cubic feet).

The iX has a higher standard payload capacity than the Wagoneer S (1003 vs. 879 lbs.).

The iX has a higher maximum payload capacity than the Wagoneer S (1054 vs. 879 lbs.).

A Condition-Based Service Display is standard on the iX to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for vehicle inspections, vehicle inspection based on actual driving conditions. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Jeep doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Wagoneer S.

If the windows are left open on the iX the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Wagoneer S can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Laser headlights, optional on the iX, produce their light by firing blue lasers through phosphorus, a process that uses one-half the power of the Wagoneer S’ LED headlights. Laser headlights can have double the range of LEDs with a much smaller surface area.

The Wagoneer S’ cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The iX’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The iX’s optional Parking Assistant Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Parking Assistant Professional will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Wagoneer S’ automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the iX first among upper midsize premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Wagoneer S isn’t in the top three.
