For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Cadillac Lyriq are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The VinFast VF 8 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Lyriq and VF 8 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Lyriq has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The VF 8’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Lyriq are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Both the Lyriq and VF 8 have Rear Cross Traffic Alert, but the Lyriq has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The VF 8’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Lyriq and the VF 8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and available driver alert monitors.

There are almost 142 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are VinFast dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Lyriq’s warranty.

The Lyriq’s standard electric motor produces 16 more horsepower (365 vs. 349) than the VF 8 Eco’s standard electric motors. The Lyriq’s optional electric motors produces 113 more horsepower (515 vs. 402) than the VF 8 Plus’ standard electric motors.

For better traction, the Lyriq has larger standard tires than the VF 8 (265/50R20 vs. 225/55R19). The Lyriq’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the VF 8 (275/40R22 vs. 245/45R20).

The Lyriq’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the VF 8 Eco’s standard 55 series tires. The Lyriq’s optional tires have a lower 40 series profile than the VF 8 Plus’ 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Lyriq has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the VF 8 Eco. The Lyriq’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the VF 8 Plus.

The Cadillac Lyriq’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The VinFast VF 8 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Lyriq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The VF 8 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For superior ride and handling, the Cadillac Lyriq has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The VinFast VF 8 has a rear torsion beam axle, with a semi-independent rear suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Lyriq’s wheelbase is 5.7 inches longer than on the VF 8 (121.8 inches vs. 116.1 inches).

For better maneuverability, the Lyriq’s turning circle is .9 feet tighter than the VF 8’s (39.7 feet vs. 40.6 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Lyriq has a greater minimum ground clearance than the VF 8 (7 vs. 6.8 inches), allowing the Lyriq to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

For excellent aerodynamics, the Lyriq has standard flush composite headlights. The VF 8 has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The Lyriq offers available computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The VF 8 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Lyriq has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the VF 8 with its rear seat up (28 vs. 13.2 cubic feet). The Lyriq has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the VF 8 with its rear seat folded (60.8 vs. 48.4 cubic feet).

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the Lyriq’s optional rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The VF 8 doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Lyriq uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The VF 8 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the VF 8 Plus, the Lyriq has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Lyriq’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Passive Entry standard on the VF 8 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Lyriq’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The VF 8’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The Lyriq offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the VF 8.

The Lyriq offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Lyriq’s Enhanced Automatic Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Auto Parking will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The VF 8 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The Lyriq is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

The Cadillac Lyriq outsold the VinFast VF 8 by almost 31 to one during 2023.
