Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the GLC Coupe ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 6 times as many Dodge dealers as there are Mercedes dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Hornet’s warranty.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Hornet has a standard 160-amp alternator. The GLC Coupe’s 150-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes With 28 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Dodge higher than Mercedes.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Dodge vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Dodge 8 places higher in reliability than Mercedes.

The Hornet GT’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 13 more horsepower (268 vs. 255) than the GLC Coupe’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The Hornet R/T’s standard 1.3 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 33 more horsepower (288 vs. 255) and 88 lbs.-ft. more torque (383 vs. 295) than the GLC Coupe’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the Hornet R/T running on electricity gets better mileage than the GLC 300 Coupe (77 city/77 hwy MPGe vs. 24 city/30 hwy).

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Dodge Hornet uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The GLC Coupe requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

The Hornet has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The GLC Coupe doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Hornet’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GLC Coupe’s optional 45 series front tires.

The Hornet offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The GLC Coupe’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For better maneuverability, the Hornet R/T’s turning circle is .8 feet tighter than the GLC Coupe’s (37.9 feet vs. 38.7 feet). The Hornet GT’s turning circle is .7 feet tighter than the GLC Coupe’s (38 feet vs. 38.7 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Hornet R/T has a greater minimum ground clearance than the GLC Coupe (6.1 vs. 5.1 inches), allowing the Hornet to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Hornet GT’s minimum ground clearance is 2.9 inches higher than on the GLC Coupe (8 vs. 5.1 inches).

The Dodge Hornet may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 150 to 550 pounds less than the Mercedes GLC Coupe.

The Hornet is 9.6 inches shorter than the GLC Coupe, making the Hornet easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
