The Nissan Leaf has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Charger doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Leaf has standard Rear Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Charger doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Both the Leaf and the Charger have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available daytime running lights, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

Nissan pays for scheduled maintenance on the Leaf for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Nissan will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Dodge doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Charger.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Nissan vehicles are better in initial quality than Dodge vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Nissan above average in initial quality. With 135 more problems per 100 vehicles, Dodge is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Nissan vehicles are more reliable than Dodge vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Nissan 4 places higher in reliability than Dodge.

The Leaf has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Charger doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For better maneuverability, the Leaf S’ turning circle is 5.2 feet tighter than the Charger Coupe’s (34.8 feet vs. 40 feet). The Leaf SV PLUS’ turning circle is 3.8 feet tighter than the Charger Coupe’s (36.2 feet vs. 40 feet).

The Nissan Leaf may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1950 to 2350 pounds less than the Dodge Charger.

The Leaf is 2 feet, 6.1 inches shorter than the Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe, making the Leaf easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces. The Leaf is 2 feet, 6.2 inches shorter than the Charger Daytona R/T Coupe.

The Leaf is 9.3 inches narrower than the Charger, making the Leaf easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The Leaf has 2.1 inches more front headroom and .4 inches more rear headroom than the Charger.

The Leaf’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children from operating them. Dodge does not offer a locking feature on the Charger’s standard power windows.

The Leaf has two rear doors to provide better access for cargo and rear passengers. The Charger doesn’t offer rear doors.
