Compare the2025 Chevrolet Blazer EVVS 2024 Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Blazer EV are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Q8 e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Blazer EV has standard Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Q8 e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

The Blazer EV’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Q8 e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Blazer EV and the Q8 e-tron Sportback have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available front parking sensors.

Chevrolet’s powertrain warranty covers the Blazer EV 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Audi covers the Q8 e-tron Sportback. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Q8 e-tron Sportback ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 10 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Audi dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Blazer EV’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet second in initial quality, above the industry average. With 82 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is ranked 31st, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 101 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is ranked 29th.

On the EPA test cycle the Blazer EV gets better mileage than the Q8 e-tron Sportback:

The Blazer EV can travel longer on a full charge than the SQ8 e-tron Sportback (283 miles vs. 253 miles).

For better traction, the Blazer EV RS’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Q8 e-tron Sportback (275/45R21 vs. 265/45R21).

The Chevrolet Blazer EV’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Blazer EV has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Q8 e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Blazer EV can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Q8 e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Blazer EV’s wheelbase is 6.7 inches longer than on the Q8 e-tron Sportback (121.8 inches vs. 115.1 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Blazer EV is 1.2 inches wider in the front and 1.4 inches wider in the rear than on the Q8 e-tron Sportback.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 to 650 pounds less than the Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback.

The Blazer EV has 2.8 inches more front headroom, 3.4 inches more front legroom, .1 inches more front shoulder room, .2 inches more rear headroom and 1.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Q8 e-tron Sportback.

The Blazer EV has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Q8 e-tron Sportback with its rear seat folded (59.1 vs. 54.5 cubic feet).

The Blazer EV’s minimum standard towing capacity is much higher than the Q8 e-tron Sportback’s (1500 vs. 0 pounds).

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Blazer EV uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Q8 e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Blazer EV has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Q8 e-tron Sportback only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The Blazer EV’s optional Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Q8 e-tron Sportback Prestige/Launch Assist’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

Motor Trend performed a comparison test in its January 2024 issue and they ranked the Chevrolet Blazer EV RS first. They ranked the Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback third.

Motor Trend selected the Blazer EV as their 2024 Sport Utility of the Year. The Q8 e-tron Sportback has never been chosen.

The Chevrolet Blazer outsold the Audi e-tron by almost 8 to one during 2023.
