Compare the2025 Toyota SupraVS 2024 Mercedes AMG GT

The Supra has a standard Pre-Collision System, which uses forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Supra Auto offers optional Emergency Braking that use rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The Supra’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Supra’s optional Rear Cross Traffic Alert uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side and Parking Support Brake on the Auto automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The Supra’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

The Supra offers optional Safety Connect™, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Supra and the Mercedes AMG GT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, available blind spot warning systems and rear parking sensors.

Toyota’s powertrain warranty covers the Supra 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Mercedes covers the AMG GT. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Mercedes AMG GT ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the Supra for 2 years and 25000 miles. Toyota will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the AMG GT.

There are over 3 times as many Toyota dealers as there are Mercedes dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Supra’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Toyota vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Toyota above average in initial quality. With 14 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Toyota second in reliability, above the industry average. With 71 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is ranked 21st.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Toyota second in overall reliability. Mercedes is ranked 29th.

On the EPA test cycle the Supra gets better mileage than the Mercedes AMG GT:

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Supra’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Supra stops shorter than the Mercedes AMG GT:

The Supra’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51.5% to 48.5%) than the Mercedes AMG GT’s (54% to 46%). This gives the Supra more stable handling and braking.

The Supra 3.0 Premium handles at 1.07 G’s, while the Mercedes AMG GT 63 pulls only 1.05 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Supra’s turning circle is 6.9 feet tighter than the Mercedes AMG GT’s (34.1 feet vs. 41 feet).

The Toyota Supra may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 850 to 1050 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG GT.

The Supra offers a remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Supra’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Mercedes AMG GT’s

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Supra Auto offers an optional Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
