The Toyota Supra has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Charger doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Supra Auto offers optional Emergency Braking that use rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. The Charger doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Both the Supra and Charger offer rear cross-traffic warning, but the Supra Auto has Parking Support Brake (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Charger’s Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Supra and the Charger have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available blind spot warning systems and rear parking sensors.

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the Supra for 2 years and 25000 miles. Toyota will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Dodge doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Charger.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Toyota vehicles are better in initial quality than Dodge vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Toyota above average in initial quality. With 109 more problems per 100 vehicles, Dodge is rated below average.

Power ranks Toyota second in reliability, above the industry average. With 43 more problems per 100 vehicles, Dodge is ranked 9th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Dodge vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Toyota second in overall reliability. Dodge is ranked 21st.

For better traction, the Supra has larger tires than the Charger (F:255/35R19 & R:275/35R19 vs. 245/55R18).

The Supra’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Charger’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Supra has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Charger.

For better maneuverability, the Supra’s turning circle is 5.9 feet tighter than the Charger Coupe’s (34.1 feet vs. 40 feet).

The Toyota Supra may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 2450 to 2650 pounds less than the Dodge Charger.

The Supra is 2 feet, 10 inches shorter than the Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe, making the Supra easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Supra is 6.8 inches narrower than the Charger, making the Supra easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The Supra is 7.8 inches shorter in height than the Charger, making the Supra much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).
