A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Tucson Hybrid are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. Both the Tucson Hybrid and the Range Rover Evoque have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2024 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The Range Rover Evoque has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

The Tucson Hybrid comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Range Rover Evoque’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Hyundai’s powertrain warranty covers the Tucson Hybrid 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Land Rover covers the Range Rover Evoque. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Range Rover Evoque ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The Tucson Hybrid’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Range Rover Evoque’s (7 vs. 6 years).

Hyundai pays for scheduled maintenance on the Tucson Hybrid for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Hyundai will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Land Rover doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Range Rover Evoque.

There are over 4 times as many Hyundai dealers as there are Land Rover dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Tucson Hybrid’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Tucson Hybrid’s reliability 23 points higher than the Range Rover Evoque.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Hyundai vehicles are better in initial quality than Land Rover vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Hyundai third in initial quality, above the industry average. With 52 more problems per 100 vehicles, Land Rover is ranked 23rd, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Hyundai vehicles are more reliable than Land Rover With 70 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Hyundai higher than Land Rover.

On the EPA test cycle the Tucson Hybrid gets better mileage than the Range Rover Evoque:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid uses regular unleaded gasoline. The Range Rover Evoque requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

The Tucson Hybrid has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Range Rover Evoque. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Tucson Hybrid’s wheelbase is 3 inches longer than on the Range Rover Evoque (108.5 inches vs. 105.5 inches).

The Tucson Hybrid Limited handles at .82 G’s, while the Range Rover Evoque pulls only .77 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Tucson Hybrid Limited executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.1 seconds quicker than the Range Rover Evoque (27.4 seconds @ .63 average G’s vs. 28.5 seconds @ .62 average G’s).

The Tucson Hybrid is 5.2 inches narrower than the Range Rover Evoque, making the Tucson Hybrid easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The front grille of the Tucson Hybrid uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Tucson Hybrid has 1.2 inches more front headroom, 1.4 inches more front legroom, 1 inch more front shoulder room, 1.2 inches more rear headroom, 7.3 inches more rear legroom and .6 inches more rear shoulder room than the Range Rover Evoque.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Tucson Hybrid’s rear seats recline. The Range Rover Evoque’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Tucson Hybrid has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Range Rover Evoque with its rear seat up (38.7 vs. 21.6 cubic feet). The Tucson Hybrid has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Range Rover Evoque with its rear seat folded (74.5 vs. 50.5 cubic feet).

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the Tucson Hybrid’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The Tucson Hybrid’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Range Rover Evoque’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Consumer Reports rated the Tucson Hybrid’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the Range Rover Evoque’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Tucson Hybrid has standard extendable sun visors. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the Tucson Hybrid Limited keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Tucson Hybrid Limited’s Remote Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Insurance will cost less for the Tucson Hybrid owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Tucson Hybrid will cost $980 to $3220 less than the Range Rover Evoque over a five-year period.

The Tucson Hybrid will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Tucson Hybrid will retain 52.09% to 55.73% of its original price after five years, while the Range Rover Evoque only retains 50.91% to 52.06%.
