The Vantage’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The MC20 doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Vantage has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the MC20’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Vantage has standard Rear Cross Traffic Assist and automatically engage the brakes. Maserati charges extra for Rear Cross Path on the MC20 and the MC20’s Rear Cross Path does not include automatic braking.

The Vantage’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The MC20 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Vantage and the MC20 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The Vantage comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The MC20’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The Vantage’s corrosion warranty is 6 years and unlimited miles longer than the MC20’s (10/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).

The MC20’s redline is at 8000 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The Vantage has a 7000 RPM redline.

The Vantage’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 35 more horsepower (656 vs. 621) and 52 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 538) than the MC20’s 3.0 turbo V6.

The Vantage has 3.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the MC20 (19.3 vs. 15.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the Vantage’s brake rotors are larger than those on the MC20:

For better traction, the Vantage has larger tires than the MC20 (F:275/35R21 & R:325/30R21 vs. F:245/35R20 & R:305/30R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Vantage has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the MC20.

The Vantage’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the MC20’s (41% to 59%). This gives the Vantage more stable handling and braking.

The Vantage is 6.9 inches shorter than the MC20, making the Vantage easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Vantage has a much larger trunk than the MC20 Coupe (8.3 vs. 5.3 cubic feet).

The Vantage’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The MC20’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

The Vantage’s standard Keyless Entry allow you to unlock the doors from either outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Extended Keyless Go standard on the MC20 doesn’t offer a sensor on the trunk.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Vantage has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The MC20 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Vantage’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The MC20’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

When the Vantage is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The MC20’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Vantage keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The MC20 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the Vantage’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The MC20 doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Vantage has a standard Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The MC20 doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

The Vantage’s Active Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The MC20 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
