To maximize occupant safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Aston Martin Vantage have pretensioners to eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Maserati GranTurismo doesn’t offer pretensioners.

The Vantage’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the GranTurismo.

The Vantage has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the GranTurismo’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Vantage has standard Rear Cross Traffic Assist and automatically engage the brakes. Maserati charges extra for Rear Cross Path on the GranTurismo and the GranTurismo’s Rear Cross Path does not include automatic braking.

Both the Vantage and the GranTurismo have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The Vantage comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The GranTurismo’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The Vantage’s corrosion warranty is 6 years and unlimited miles longer than the GranTurismo’s (10/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).

The GranTurismo’s redline is at 8000 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The Vantage has a 7000 RPM redline.

The Vantage’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 173 more horsepower (656 vs. 483) and 147 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 443) than the GranTurismo Modena’s standard 3.0 turbo V6. The Vantage’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 114 more horsepower (656 vs. 542) and 103 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 487) than the GranTurismo Trofeo’s standard 3.0 turbo V6.

For better stopping power the Vantage’s brake rotors are larger than those on the GranTurismo:

The Vantage offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the Vantage has larger tires than the GranTurismo (F:275/35R21 & R:325/30R21 vs. F:265/30R20 & R:295/30R21).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Vantage has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch front wheels are available on the GranTurismo.

The Vantage has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the GranTurismo; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Vantage’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the GranTurismo’s (52% to 48%). This gives the Vantage more stable handling and braking.

The Aston Martin Vantage may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 450 pounds less than the Maserati GranTurismo.

The Vantage is 1 foot, 6.3 inches shorter than the GranTurismo Modena, making the Vantage easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Vantage’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Vantage has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Vantage’s Active Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
