Compare the2025 Aston Martin DBXVS 2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Aston Martin DBX have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The DBX has a standard Birds-eye Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the DBX and Stelvio Quadrifoglio have rear cross-traffic warning, but the DBX has Rear Cross Traffic Warning (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s Rear Cross-Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the DBX and the Stelvio Quadrifoglio have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Aston Martin DBX weighs 632 pounds more than the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The DBX comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The DBX’s corrosion warranty is 5 years longer than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s (10 vs. 5 years).

The DBX’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 192 more horsepower (697 vs. 505) and 221 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 443) than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s 2.9 turbo V6.

As tested in Car and Driver the Aston Martin DBX is faster than the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio:

The DBX has 5.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (22.5 vs. 16.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The DBX has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Aston Martin DBX higher (5 out of 10) than the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio (3). This means the DBX produces up to 16.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio every 15,000 miles.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Aston Martin DBX, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

The DBX’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the DBX’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio:

The DBX has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the DBX has larger tires than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (F:285/40R22 & R:325/35R22 vs. F:255/45R20 & R:285/40R20).

The DBX’s standard 285/40R22 front and 325/35R22 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires. The DBX’s optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the DBX has standard 22-inch wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio. The DBX’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

The DBX has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The DBX has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the DBX uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The DBX offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Alfa Romeo doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

The DBX has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The DBX’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the DBX’s wheelbase is 9.6 inches longer than on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (120.5 inches vs. 110.9 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the DBX is 5.7 inches wider in the front and 2.2 inches wider in the rear than on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

The DBX707 handles at .97 G’s, while the Stelvio Quadrifoglio pulls only .95 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The DBX executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (24.4 seconds @ .79 average G’s vs. 24.9 seconds @ .79 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the DBX has a 1.4 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (9.3 vs. 7.9 inches), allowing the DBX to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

As tested by Car and Driver while at idle, the interior of the DBX707 is quieter than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (45 vs. 47 dB).

The DBX has 11.4 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (109 vs. 97.6).

The DBX has .7 inches more front headroom, 5.1 inches more front legroom, .9 inches more front shoulder room, 1.1 inches more rear headroom and 9 inches more rear legroom than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

Flexibility is maximized at the game, campground or a drive-in theatre in the DBX when its optional tailgating rear seats are deployed, allowing people to sit facing out of the liftgate. (Do not use while vehicle is in motion.) The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer tailgating seats.

The DBX has a much larger cargo volume than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio with its rear seat up (22.5 vs. 18.5 cubic feet).

The DBX has a 5940 lbs. towing capacity. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio has no towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Stability Control on the DBX uses the Electronic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, the DBX has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

If the windows are left open on the DBX the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Stelvio Quadrifoglio can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The DBX’s standard Keyless Entry and Go allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless-Enter-n-Go standard on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The DBX’s LED headlights produce a white, bright light using less electricity than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s xenon high intensity discharge (HID) headlights. HID headlights can be slow to reach full brightness or power cycle, causing issues when flashing them to signal other vehicles; LED headlights light instantly. LED lights also last about three to four times as long.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the DBX has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

When the DBX is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the DBX’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The DBX’s Auto Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
