For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Lincoln Aviator are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The VinFast VF 8 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Aviator and VF 8 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Aviator has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The VF 8’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Aviator are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Both the Aviator and VF 8 have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Aviator has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The VF 8’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Aviator and the VF 8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available all wheel drive.

The Aviator’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the VF 8’s (unlimited vs. 125000 miles).

There are almost 134 times as many Lincoln dealers as there are VinFast dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Aviator’s warranty.

The Aviator’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 51 more horsepower (400 vs. 349) and 46 lbs.-ft. more torque (415 vs. 369) than the VF 8 Eco’s standard electric motors.

For better traction, the Aviator has larger standard tires than the VF 8 (255/55R20 vs. 225/55R19). The Aviator’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the VF 8 (275/40R22 vs. 245/45R20).

The Aviator’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the VF 8 Plus’ 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Aviator has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the VF 8 Eco. The Aviator’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the VF 8 Plus.

The Aviator has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the VF 8; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For superior ride and handling, the Lincoln Aviator has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The VinFast VF 8 has a rear torsion beam axle, with a semi-independent rear suspension.

The Aviator has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The VF 8’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Aviator has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Aviator’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Aviator’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The VF 8 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Aviator’s wheelbase is 3 inches longer than on the VF 8 (119.1 inches vs. 116.1 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Aviator is 1.9 inches wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than on the VF 8.

For better maneuverability, the Aviator’s turning circle is 1.4 feet tighter than the VF 8’s (39.2 feet vs. 40.6 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Aviator has a 1.9 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the VF 8 (8.7 vs. 6.8 inches), allowing the Aviator to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Lincoln Aviator may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 650 to 700 pounds less than the VinFast VF 8.

For excellent aerodynamics, the Aviator has standard flush composite headlights. The VF 8 has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The front grille of the Aviator uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The VF 8 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Aviator Reserve/Black Label uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The VF 8 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Aviator offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the VF 8 can only carry 5.

The Aviator’s cargo area provides more volume than the VF 8.

Pressing a button automatically lowers the Aviator’s second and third row seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The VF 8 doesn’t offer automatic folding second row seats.

The Aviator’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the VF 8’s (5000 vs. 3968 pounds).

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Aviator uses the AdvanceTrac® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The VF 8 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Aviator’s exterior PIN entry system. The VF 8 doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system.

The VF 8’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Aviator’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Aviator to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The VF 8 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Aviator’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The VF 8’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The Aviator (except Premiere) offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the VF 8.

The Aviator has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Aviator (except Premiere)’s optional Active Park Assist Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The VF 8 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The Aviator is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

The Lincoln Aviator outsold the VinFast VF 8 by almost 52 to one during 2023.
