Power ranks Chevrolet fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 32 more problems per 100 vehicles, GMC is ranked 18th.
From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than GMC vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Chevrolet 4 places higher in reliability than GMC.
Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the Silverado 2500 HD Standard Bed ZR2 Crew Cab Pickup’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Sierra HD (305/70R18 vs. 275/70R18).
The Silverado HD LT/LTZ/High Country’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 60 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Sierra HD’s optional 65 series tires.
For better load carrying, ride, handling and brake cooling the Silverado HD LT/LTZ/High Country offers optional 22-inch wheels. The Sierra HD’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.
Cargo Capacity
The Silverado HD has stake post holes, to allow the containment of tall, light loads. The Sierra HD doesn’t offer stake post holes.
To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the Silverado HD (except WT/Custom) offers an optional power cargo door, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button. The Sierra HD doesn’t offer a power cargo door.
